Coffee is my Life

The Artists Process

One of my few (very few) problems, is my tendency to not predict the future. I have found myself promising a timeline, and then not sticking to it very well. This is something that I need to remedy. I am gonna work on this. Just as soon as I take this nap.

Tuesday Draw

This is the first Tuesday Draw. Yes, It is late, but I forgot to post it yesterday, and only now noticed it was still on my desktop.I figure that I need to pull out a bit, on the Thursdays and Tuesdays from Robotic Love, so that I can work out some kinks in my artwork. I am still getting used to the tablet, and while I have moved my desk in my house, I am still getting used to that as well.

This little guy is Red Eyes. I was thinking about using him as a guard to a main bad guy, in a story I am writing.

A little bit of Green Lantern

Ok, so I stayed away from a comic today, since I am trying to hold to a monday, wednesday friday schedule, so that the art doesnt look quite so rushed. I still ended up doodling a little. I present to you, Green Lantern. At least my take on him. I figure with all the re-dos' out there right now, I could get away from it.

No more unknown cheese products

Ok, so after a minor bout with food poisioning, I am back upright. My last 24 hours are a bit of a blur of sleep and bathroom.

I did get a new monitor for the studio that I am slowly crafting from nothing in the guest bedroom.

Somehow, I will get that area moved into a full extra room for me to work. I have a new desk on the way, but the wife wants that for our bedroom. Thats cool though as I need more than an inch of space to hang my floppy meat arms on while I draw you all some serious arts and laughs. I am considering finding an old door, and duct taping it to the desk so as to have more elbow room.

time to go dumpster diving!

How to draw:lesson one

Yes, this actually occured a couple of minutes ago. Luckily, I had the mad skills to use an alternate method of drawing. Almost considered pen and paper, but that would have looked worse, or would it?

The muse was driving officer, not me

I think that I have become one of those people that need to keep a notepad around all the time. I was sitting in my car this morning and suddenly had an idea come to me about a new comic.

While trying to turn down the radio and avoid swerving into traffic, I tried to look for a scrap of paper to write down the idea. This rapidly became a bad idea. (dont try this kids)
At any rate, I was able to retain the idea, and once I passed two people bruskly (don't care if thats not a word) I was able to get to my desk and write it down.

I also wish to request something from the readers of this blog. I would really love any kind of feedback in the comments section. Seriously, bad or good. I only request that the feedback not include profanity involving my lineage etc.

Thats all from the world of A Robtic Love for now. Soon enough you will get to read a wonderful comic, full of hope and desire, and hilarity.

Maintain the maintenence

Had to toss the Halloween project. I just couldn't get it right. The background and the foreground simply would not come together. Much thanks to the helpful nods from the Reddit community. I plan on making a lot more time for the art itself. simply using my lunch hour is not working out. Even if I have a funny thing to share, the art needs to match the punchline. People should want to come back to this site.
In other news, I need to fix my toilet. Not sure how this applies, but you just read it, so hah. Now its stuck in your head also.

Working working working

OK, now I have the figures all colored up. I need to relocate the word balloons though. Or the art, not sure there. Also adding in some minor sketch for Bobert jr. I like drawing the little tyke.

Oh my god, I am getting old.(No kidding)

My wife and I realized this morning that our wedding anniversary was coming up on the 16th(or17th). Providence decided that we would always celebrate after receiving a paycheck. This past year has been a doozy. Without going into too much drama, we have had some serious 'discussions'. I have also dealt with a lot of humbling experiences, from losing my job, and my house, to dealing with a pretty fucked up knee, and the fun of high blood pressure medications, like some 80 year old.

When we first met, I was working in a start up that was going to re-write on line auctions with state of the art development. Year and a half later, I found myself out of work. We had to scramble, but soon I found better, and my technical skills became much more useful, as well as my ability to talk to people. I know, its weird that people actually don't listen much anymore. Especially in technology. It seems that the loudest voice carries the day, rather than the quiet one that mentions that the loud guy is talking about impossible things. But I digress.

I have always played around with my artwork. After having my child, I thought I would never have time for it again. I am glad that I have bit the bullet so to speak, and bought all the tools necessary to do some hard artwork. I'm going to start with just some light sketches, but I can tell that with a little time and humor, I can get things really moving on this. If it doesn't work out, I will still have enjoyed doing it, for arts sake (little cliché, but whatever).
